General Improvements
What would you improve in OpenERP to make it easier to use, easier to deploy or more productive ?

Don't drop the gtk-client, improve it
The gtk-client are excelent and inmany cases will always be superior to a web client. In version 6.0 anf 6.1 the ambition has loosen the edge regarding to improve the client, there are some features that is not implemented from the web client.
Dropping the gtk-client or not improve it in the same phase as openerp in general will make openerp less competitive and less compelling fore some target users.

-> To use it externally: other reporting, analysis, etc.

Read/write rights on fields depending on group
OpenERP should have a feature which provide writable/readonly attributes on a field by groupwise.

Bring back requests integrated in the client
Request-system has been removed from clients between version 6.0 and 6.1. The res.request-model remains for now in the database, but is for less use for us who thought it was a good function. Its easy to build some views for it but it is much harder do bring it in to the client again for a local installation.
Use request as an error option, when an error uccurs that needs someone to do something create a request, not just a log. Logs are more just for information. Requests have a more powerful role.

OpenERP has many lack to implement the production process in manufacturing company.
Please make it easier to deploy, but more productive is more advance and more flexible to use. I hope there's more modules for industrial or manufacturing company.

Installation Templates
I love the granularity of the installation process (install just only what I need). However, it would be nice if there were installation templates for various industries that would install the basic packages needed for that industry along with some suggested packages. For example, we are a manufacturing plant. It would be nice to choose a MANUFACTURING TEMPLATE and it automatically choose for installation the various sales, warehouse, mrp, etc. It could also allow for the adding on of additional modules to the template before beginning the installation (e.g., HR).

Good documentation on how configure and use the modules
Now is very difficult to find some good documentation for almost modules, I think will be good for all to explain datailed how to work with every module, and with examples

easier use of multiple currency for purchase orders and quotations.
We recently installed OpenERP and I probably have to put the project on hold since there is no easy way to use mutliple currencies. I just want to select dollar in a purchase order at the top and be done with it. Pricelists are to vague and for some reason, I can't even find them in OpenERP 6 (checked the modules and it should be there). Too hard to simply use an simple feature that should be default.

Move nightly.openerp.com for deb-files to a PPA in launchpad.net
There are deb-files built at a daily basis to http://nightly.openerp.com/6.1/nightly/deb/ . If the build service that comes with launchpad.net was used instead, several advantages will ensue. First, the build service builds packages individually for more target operating systems - and if there is a problem with one its self marked. Second, its possible to copy and test a recent version with another PPA which makes distribution in an operational environment much easier.

Seemless integration with popular shopping carts
Provide stable core integration with the most popular shopping carts (ie Magento, Presta etc) instead of having to use 3rd Party extensions in Alpha / Beta releases.

Include version in package-names
Openerp whould use a better nameing convention that includes base version and permit install of several versions in parallell. For example, if the name of openerp-client was openerp-client61 och openerp-client70 it would be much easier to handle an upgrade phase. The same for server-side, if version was part of name of config-files, install catalogs, start scripts etc management would be more professional.
Drupal has this nameing convention, for each new generation of Drupal since version 5. The package is named drupal[5678], installation is done in /usr/share/drupal[5678], configuration in /etc/drupal/[5678]/sites etc.

add a tag "includepdf"
To add a pdf on a report, we purpose to implement a new tag like includepdf or something like that in the rml file.

A new view for truly new modules in addons.openerp.com
Today, if we use the view that sorts modules by date, we got a list with modules that have changed. Even small changes like launguage changes will update change-date. Popular modules gets small changes every day so brand new modules are hidden.
With an additional view that consists on newly added modules makes it more easy to pick up exciting news.

product_variant_multi should be cleaned or rewritten for inclusion in the online openERP service
OpenERP's online version is a great solution for every-mom-and-pop retailer (on- or off-line), but it is missing one critically important functionality. PRODUCT VARIANTS.
There is a module that exists, but seems that it needs to be cleaned up and/or properly rewritten.
I doubt I'm the only potential taker for such functionality within the SAAS Online version - but I let the votes decide

New user interface, larger buttons, white and more crisp
The user interface can be better. Using a clean and modern look will make the system more user friendly and easier to navigate.
